One great resource at OAS is the Open Adoption Bloggers list, an ever-growing blogroll of parents (first and adoptive) writing about their experiences living out openness. (Hover over the links at the blogroll to to see descriptions of each blog.) Anyone with a connection to open adoption is welcome to join. We’ll be getting up the instructions for adding your blog to the list soon, but you can also find them over at my (Heather’s) personal site.
One idea that’s come out of the blogroll is to do some semi-regular dialogue around a common question or topic. A writing prompt to get us talking about open adoption on our blogs and to give readers a peek into the diversity of thought and experiences in the open adoption community.
We’re calling it the Open Adoption Bloggers Roundtable and the first writing prompt is up now: Looking back to the time when you were thinking about open adoption but hadn’t yet lived it out, what one thing would you tell your past self about open adoption, if you could? (If you’re still in the beginning stages of your adoption journey, flip the question around: What one thing do you wish you could ask your future self about open adoption?) Go here for more information and details on how to join in.
Links to the roundtable posts will go up as they’re submitted and I’ll also post a roundup of links here at OAS in about a week. I hope you’ll join in the discussion by reading, writing, and/or commenting!
